Greg Brown Tennis Pro
Greg first held a tennis racket at age 3 and hasn’t looked back since. Throughout his early years, Greg was coached by a successful pro from Roger Williams University. In his hometown of Hopkinton, MA, Greg started at singles on the high school Varsity Men’s tennis team all four years, and was selected as #1 single in his junior and senior years. He served as team captain in his senior year. Greg was named Tri-Valley League All-Star in 2012 and 2013 and was also named to the MetroWest Daily News First Team. While on the team he was named an “Iron Man” for playing in every match. Greg spent summers teaching tennis at the Hockomock YMCA in Franklin, MA, running all aspects of the tennis program at the camp, from program design to group lessons and private instruction. Greg is especially proud to have been be selected to teach tennis at the not-for-profit TENACITY program in Boston and Worcester, which provided free tennis lessons and reading programs for inner city youth.
Before heading west to Idaho, Greg spent several years as a tennis instructor at the Westford Racquet and Swim Club in Westford, MA and more recently as the youngest professional instructor hired by the Boston Sports Club in Newton, MA. At these clubs, Greg taught singles and doubles tennis for all ages, and specialized in children’s programs. Greg also enjoyed teaching pickleball to both children and adults.
Greg is USPTA certified, working on renewal. Along with teaching technical skills, including footwork and the “anatomy of the swing”, Greg brings great enthusiasm and passion for tennis to his teaching, along with encouragement and fun for his students.
